Description of Significance THE MOSS SCHOOL GYMNASIUM WAS A 1936 WPA PROJECT IN HUGHES COUNTY. SOURCES INDICATE THAT THIS WAS AN EARLY WPA PROJECT, AND THE BUILDING SERVED AS A MODEL FOR OTHER CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA. IT IS A SINGLE STORY RECTANGULAR BUILDING CONSTRUCTED OF UNTOOLED AND UNCOURSED NATIVE SANDSTONE. IT HAD A SIDE GABLED ROOF WITH EXPOSED RAFTER TAILS. LISTED IN NATIONAL REGISTER 9/8/1988.
